Beatice Barry
Speech and Art
BA, Art History/Art Studio - George Mason University, 1999
MS, Psychology - Divine Mercy University, current
I am a mother of two, a daughter, a sister to eight sisters and brothers, an aunt, a Godmother, a friend, a teacher, an artist, a homemaker, a chauffeur, a chef, a singer, a poet, a laundress, a seamstress, an avid reader, and most importantly I am a beloved daughter of the King. I have been a professional large event planner for over 24 years, taught CCD to seventh and eighth graders for multiple years, started a local VBS program with a group of moms, led retreats for Confirmation, taken groups to Steubenville, started a healing ministry (Promise of the Father), and given talks on healing from divorce and chastity. Currently, I am a full-time graduate student at Divine Mercy University getting a master's in psychology and I teach art to kids ages 4-8 at a local art school.
I Majored in Art History and Art Studio with a focus on B&W Photography, making my paper, hand painting prints, owning a small wedding photography business, and teaching film development and darkroom techniques at GMU in the early 2000s. I paint in various mediums: traditional acrylic ink, oil pastel, fluid acrylics, watercolors, and gold/silver foils.
I am not a traditional artist, but I like to follow the use of traditional lines and forms. I believe art in all forms, visual, audible, and performance, is an expressive, positive, and healing way to relate to yourself. This is the first level of vocation to which we are called by God. When the piece of art, or work, we co-create with our God-given talent evokes emotions, creates connection, or brings us into relationships with family, friends, or our community then we are fulfilling our level two and three vocations to family and community. When we have eyes to see that we are connected, in and through Jesus Christ, as His Body - The Church, then it is easier to recognize that nothing we do is wasted, and everything we do matters. As a teacher, I pray that each day I am with these students God will put on my lips the words He wants to say to each of them, words of hope, joy, love, and Life.
